India's Mobile Phone Subscriber Base Grows Again in May 05

According to information provided by TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India), in May 2005 there were 1.7 million new mobile phone subscribers, taking the total number of mobile phone subscribers to 55.4 million. Furthermore, there were 610,000 new fixed line subscriptions, meaning the total number of fixed line telephone subscriptions grew to 47.1 million. Tele-density reached 9.46 in May compared with 9.26 in April. The number of broadband connections continued increasing in May as well.
